Here are some exam notes on the NCERT class 12 chapter on Introduction to Electrochemistry:

1. Electrochemistry is the study of the chemical reactions that take place at the interface of an electrode and an electrolyte.

2. Electrolytes are substances that conduct electricity when dissolved in water or a molten state.

3. A half-cell consists of a metal and its dissolved ions, and is separated from a reference electrode by a salt bridge.

4. An electrode is a conductor through which electrons enter or leave a half-cell.

5. The standard hydrogen electrode (SHE) is the reference electrode used to measure the potential of other electrodes.

6. EMF (Electromotive Force) is the potential difference between the two half-cells, and it is measured in volts.

7. The Nernst equation is used to calculate the EMF of a half-cell under non-standard conditions.

8. Electrolysis is the process of using electrical energy to drive a non-spontaneous redox reaction.

9. Faraday’s laws of electrolysis state that the amount of product formed at an electrode is directly proportional to the amount of charge passed through the electrolyte.

10. Commercial applications of electrochemistry include electroplating, electrolysis of brine, and batteries.

Hope these help with your exam preparations!
